This is incredible. I cannot fathom how it's possible to be this original and stay firmly in the genre. Dissonant in it's own way and masterful to the bone.

Holy hell; what did I just listen to? What a great album. Musically impressive with highly technical instrumentation, a variety of styles, fantastic dynamic range, and regular tempo changes. All instruments are audible and well-balanced. The vocals are absolutely insane. Many vocal styles on display here, some of which made me pause to question whether or not I like them. I've decided I do. The vocal performance in particular makes this a memorable album in a crowded sea of black metal. Buy it.

I really want to see these lyrics. Can’t even tell if I like it, but I’m definitely fascinated by it, which is just as good. This reminds me of The Sound That Ends Creation even though it’s black metal. Weird, wild stuff.
Favorite track: The Absolute Relativism Anthem.

In memory of your hopes is the first album of the one man band of black metal Nefarious Mash, which consists in a mix of two worlds : combining the brutal scene's power and bestial energy with the richness of avant-garde's vocabulary. It enables the construction of huge "harmonic cathedrals", crushing the listener through monster dissonances, delivered by a very thick and frontal wall of sound. They're also punctuated by a few polyrhythmic surprises leading to violent, unstable and boiling surges of sound.

Ἡ εἰκών was an impressive debut, but way too short! Luckily, Ψευδομένη arrives to satisfy the urge for more of what made its precedessor hit hard and fast: some atmospheric moments (don't be deterred as this is still brutal, dissonant and disgusting to the core) and at the same time, J.L. is exploring longer tracks - e.g. my personal favourite - and implementing some cavernous lows. If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's most likely that this man refuses to stand still. What a pace!

Dissonant Metal for Band Kids past and present! That flute in Bodies of Ash is reminiscent of the flute trio in the 1st mvt of Prokofiev's Scythian Suite. Intended that way or not, it was perfect. 10/10 🤤 🤘
